Why cook the cornbread separately when you can do it all together?! Saves on time and dishes and adds to the taste of the dish! It does not get much easier than this simple and comforting meal on a cold day.
In a skillet over medium high heat, begin browning your ground beef
While that cooks, chop your onion and pepper. Add to the skillet and continue cooking until the meat is no longer pink and is fully cooked
Add your meat to the crockpot
Season with chili packet
Add drained kidney beans, drained black beans, green chilis, diced tomatoes and tomato sauce
Cover and cook on high for 2 hours
After 2 hours, stir the mixture, add cheese, and stir once more
Prep your cornbread according to the package, but instead of baking it you will pour it evenly on top of your chili
Cover and cook on high for 4 additional hours or until the cornbread is fully cooked. Try to refrain from opening the crockpot and letting the heat out
I like to serve mine with sour cream and green onion
